Single -vehicle crash seriously injures 2 in Vigo County

  By Lucy Perry Indiana Central News Two people were seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash in Vigo County Monday night. Just before 7:30 p.m., emergency crews were dispatched to the scene, just south of Moyer Drive on Houseman Street. Vigo County Sheriff John Plasse said the driver and passenger were Lifelined to an Indianapolis hospital for treatment after the vehicle had left the roadway and struck two trees. They were both extricated from the vehicle and were reportedly unconscious at the time. The investigation is ongoing. No further information is available at this time.

UPDATE: Terre Haute shooting injures one; woman charged with attempted murder

By Lucy Perry  Indiana Central News  U PDATE: Police have released the name of the shooting victim. Douglas Baker, 67, of Terre Haute is listed in stable condition , while he remains hospitalized. Meanwhile, Daphne L. Allen, 40, also of Terre Haute, has been arrested and was booked into the Vigo County Jail just before 7 p.m. Thursday. She is charged with aggravated battery, attempted murder and unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon. --- The Terre Haute Police Department is investigating an early morning shooting that injured one person on the city’s south side Thursday . According to the THPD, officers were dispatched to S. Ninth and Poplar Streets on a report of the shooting, just before 6 a.m. The suspect fled prior to police arrival to the scene.  The victim was taken to a local hospital and his condition is unknown at this time.

Single-vehicle crash kills man in Vigo County

By Lucy Perry Indiana Central News ICN file photo A Terre Haute man is dead after police say he crashed his SUV in southern Vigo County Wednesday afternoon. Noaman Botros, 72, was transported to a nearby hospital and died a short time later. He was a local physician. Emergency crews responded to SR 641 just before 1 p.m.  Vigo County Sheriff John Plasse said Botros had left the roadway for unknown reasons. He then struck a concrete bridge support near Woodsmall Road.

Two dead in early morning Vigo County crash

  By Lucy Perry  Indiana Central News UPDATE  8-8-22: The victims in the crash have been identified as 49 -year -old Johnny Vaughn and 20-year-old Raya Vaughn. ———- Two people are dead after a two-vehicle crash near West Terre Haute in Vigo County  early Sunday morning. The names of the deceased have not been released at this time, as next of kin is being notified. Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene of the double fatality at S.R. 63 and the Durkees Ferry Road intersection just before 7 a.m. Sheriff John Plasse explained that the eastbound passenger car was approaching the S.R. 63 intersection. He said the investigation revealed it then crossed into the southbound lane of traffic. A Penske moving truck with a trailer carrying an SUV reportedly was unable to avoid the collision, crushing on top of the car. Both vehicles then ran off the roadway and into a ditch.The two victims were dead upon crews' arrival.

Witnesses say they saw murder suspect shoot victim several times on school playground in Terre Haute

  Hughes/ Vigo County Jail By Lucy Perry  Indiana Central News A Terre Haute man was shot and killed by a friend witnesses said was continuing to fire at him as he tried to get away Sunday night. Police say Quincy Rogers-Porter, 22, died after being transported to a local hospital with several gunshot wounds. The suspect, Kole M. Hughes, 20, of Lafayette, was booked into the Vigo County Jail Tuesday around 7:30 p.m. He is charged with murder and possession of a firearm on school property.    Quincy Rogers/ Facebook photo Court documents do not provide a clear motive for the shooting that took place at the Davis Park  Elementary School playground in Terre Haute, just after 9:30 p.m. They do, however, show that the two had communicated about meeting at that location.
