UPDATE: Terre Haute shooting injures one; woman charged with attempted murder

UPDATE:

Police have released the name of the shooting victim. Douglas Baker, 67, of Terre Haute is listed in stable condition , while he remains hospitalized.

Meanwhile, Daphne L. Allen, 40, also of Terre Haute, has been arrested and was booked into the Vigo County Jail just before 7 p.m. Thursday. She is charged with aggravated battery, attempted murder and unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon.

The Terre Haute Police Department is investigating an early morning shooting that injured one person on the city’s south side Thursday .

According to the THPD, officers were dispatched to S. Ninth and Poplar Streets on a report of the shooting, just before 6 a.m.

The suspect fled prior to police arrival to the scene. 

The victim was taken to a local hospital and his condition is unknown at this time.

2 suspects facing multiple drug charges after traffic stop for speeding

Jail photos By Lucy Perry Indiana Central News  SULLIVAN COUNTY- Two suspects were arrested on drug charges after a vehicile was pulled over for speeding in Sullivan County Monday evening. The  driver, Jonathan Clymer, 28, of Terre Haute and a passenger, Isaac Bradbury, 28, of Dugger were booked into the Sullivan County Jail on multiple charges.  According to Sgt. Matt Ames of the Indiana State Police, a trooper stopped the car on SR 54 near Section Street in Sullivan around 5:30 p.m.   The trooper detected criminal activity when speaking with the suspects. Fleeing motorcyclist dead after crash

By Lucy Perry Indiana Central News Police say a ma n died after crashing his motorcycle into an SUV a s he fled from officers during an attempted traffic stop on Terre Haute’s north side Friday night. Kaleb Long, 24, of Terre Haute, died shortly after being transported to a local hospital, just after 7 p.m.  Sgt. Matt Ames,  of the Indiana State Police, explained that Trooper Daniel Organ  tried to stop the 2012 Suzuki for a registration violation at the intersection of N. Third Street and Eighth Avenue. However, Long disregarded police and fled southbound at a high rate of speed. A pursuit ensued. Ultimately, the pursuit ended when the motorcycle struck a 2002 Jeep Liberty at N. Third and Cherry Streets. The other driver, Brian Scott, 53, also of Terre Haute, was not injured in the accident.
