  Sandlin/Vigo Co. Jail - He is charged with murder By Lucy Perry  Indiana Central News A man wanted for murder was apprehended on Terre Haute's north side Wednesday night . Richard "Tony" Sandlin, 55, of Terre Haute, was booked into the Vigo County Jail around  11 p.m. He is charged with: Murder Unlawful carrying of a handgun by felon Burglary, while armed with a deadly weapon Battery committed with a deadly weapon Reckless driving  Escape from lawful detention He also had an active warrant for probation violation on an unrelated case. Sandlin was considered armed and dangerous, as he evaded police for four days following the murder of Donald Riley, also of Terre Haute. He was ultimately captured by Terre Haute Police Department officers, assisted by multiple law enforcement agencies, including U.S. Marshals and the Indiana State Police. Terre Haute man accused of his mother's murder

  By Lucy Perry Indiana Central News Stevenson/ Vigo Co. Jail A Terre Haute man recently arrested for allegedly battering his mother, is now charged with her murder. Steven G. Stevenson, 55, was arrested Aug.19 and booked into the Vigo County Jail on a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery.  Wednesday, felony murder and aggravated battery were added to the charges he now faces. According to the probable cause affidavit , filed by Detective Sgt. John Newman, of the Vigo County Sheriff's Office,  the investigation began when emergency crews were dispatched to the northside residence on Sandalwood Avenue. The victim had been transported to a local emergency room prior to officers' arrival. Stevenson allegedly had pushed his mother down, according to his father at the scene. Observed several food items in cooler without date of consumption. Found multiple food items being warmed in steam table, not heated to proper temperature within time limits. Terre Haute man facing child pornography charges after police receive cyber tip

  Lucy Perry photo By Lucy Perry Indiana Central News A Terre Haute man was arrested for multiple counts of possession of child pornography after police searched his southside residence Tuesday. David E. Pasko Jr., 18, was booked into the Vigo County Jail around 5 p.m. He is charged with:  Child exploitation, Level 4 felony Possession of child pornography (5 counts), Level 5 felony Pasko Jr.  The investigation began in June. Sgt. Matt Ames, of the Indiana State Police,  said investigators received a cyber tip from  the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC.)  Police then executed a search warrant at 1506 S. 10th St. and took the suspect into custody a short time later.

One dead after motorcycle crash in Terre Haute

 By Lucy Perry Indiana Central News Lucy Perry photo UPDATE 8/29/22- John Waggoner.22, of Terre Haute has been identified as the deceased crash victim . —— A crash involving a motorcycle claimed the life of one Saturday afternoon in Terre Haute. Around 3:40 p.m., emergency crews responded to the the crash at S. US 41 , near Old Royce Road.  The motorcyclist was transported to a hospital , where he died a short time later. His name has not been released at this time.  A dark - colored SUV sustained driver's side damage. No one in that vehicle was injured.  The Vigo County Sheriff's Office investigation is ongoing. More information will be provided as it becomes available.

Federal inmate dies after medical emergency in Terre Haute

  Lucy Perry photo An inmate from the federal prison in Terre Haute died after a medical emergency Saturday evening. Jonathan Powers, 47, was transported to the hospital after staff noticed he was acting erratically, according to Federal Correctional Institution press release. CPR was initiated after Powers became unresponsive.  He was pronounced dead at the hospital. No other inmates were involved.  Powers had been held at the FCI since June, where he was serving a sentence for methamphetamine and felon in possession of a firearm.
