One dead after motorcycle crash in Terre Haute

UPDATE 8/29/22- John Waggoner.22, of Terre Haute has been identified as the deceased crash victim .

A crash involving a motorcycle claimed the life of one Saturday afternoon in Terre Haute.


Around 3:40 p.m., emergency crews responded to the the crash at S. US 41 , near Old Royce Road.  The motorcyclist was transported to a hospital , where he died a short time later. His name has not been released at this time. 


A dark - colored SUV sustained driver's side damage. No one in that vehicle was injured. 


The Vigo County Sheriff's Office investigation is ongoing. More information will be provided as it becomes available.

Police say man was angry with son when he fired shots at his home

By Lucy Perry Indiana Central News A Terre Haute man was taken into custody after police say he fired multiple shots into a relative's home and vehicle early Sunday morning. John Lyman Jr., 49, was booked into the Vigo County Jail a short time later. He is charged with charged with: burglary while armed with a deadly weapon; burglary of a dwelling; criminal recklessness; and intimidation using a deadly weapon. Terre Haute Police Department officers were dispatched to the residence located in the area of Blakely and Wabash Avenues on a call for shots fired, just before 6 a.m. The suspect reportedly had fled the scene prior to police arrival and was located later on. According to the report, officers allege the victim’s father had fired multiple rounds into the victim’s home. They say shots were fired through an entry door and a bedroom window of the residence. Mills died the afternoon of 08-24-2022.
