Vigo County Sheriff's Office shooting investigation underway, one dead

A shooting death investigation is underway after a man was found dead at a residence near Terre Haute on Valentine's Day.

Emergency crews responded to the home at 3762 East Ashland Drive, just off Riley Road, Tuesday around 8 p.m. No additional information has been released at this time, including the name of the victim. He was dead at the scene, reportedly from the gunshot wound.

"This investigation is ongoing pending an autopsy and to accurately determine the events which led to this shooting," Vigo County Sheriff John Plasse said.

Vigo County Sheriff’s Deputies, Seelyville Town Marshal, Terre Haute City Police, and the Indiana State Police responded, along with Honey Creek Fire, Riley Fire, and Transcare ambulance. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
