Suspect shot and killed during early morning residential break-in

An early morning residential break-in left the suspect dead at the scene early Sunday morning in Terre Haute.

A Terre Haute Police Department spokesman said Michael Bell, 30, of Clay City, was shot and killed at the residence. Another person reportedly with Bell during the incident, was released Sunday without charges being filed at this time. The investigation is ongoing.

A 911 call came in around 5:30 a.m. A homeowner in the 200 block of N. Fruitridge Avenue reportedly shot and killed the suspect during the alleged home invasion.

Officers were able to find the second person that had been with the alleged intruder, hiding in a neighboring back yard a short time later.
