Truck driver airlifted to hospital after crashing with another semi in southern Vigo County

One truck driver was airlifted to a hospital after a crash with another semi in southern Vigo County Wednesday afternoon.


Honey Creek Fire Department, Trans-Care Ambulance and the Vigo County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to S. U.S. 41 and Harlan Drive around 4 p.m.  


Officials say one of the drivers  suffered serious injuries and was flown by helicopter to the hospital for treatment. The other driver reportedly suffered minor injuries. 


The crash involved a tanker truck and an Amazon delivery truck and occurred in the northbound lanes of the highway, at a  railroad crossing.The accident caused the tanker truck to run off the roadway into a field. It sustained rear-end damage. The Amazon truck had extensive front-end damage.
