Local joint law enforcement warrant round-up nets several drug-related arrests

Twelve suspects were arrested for various charges during a joint law enforcement warrant round-up and saturated patrols Monday, including one who was already held in the Vigo County Community Corrections Center.

Officers from the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office, West Terre Haute Police Department and the Seelyville Town Marshal conducted the operation, seizing drugs and issuing several traffic citations.

Arrested during the operation:
- Aaron Elkins – Elkins was arrested while housed at the Community Corrections Center. He had a warrant for dealing methamphetamine and now faces additional charges of possession of meth ---after police say approximately 18 grams of meth and more than $4,000 in cash were seized from his locker and vehicle, which were on Community Corrections' property.

  • Robert Kirkman – Dealing in methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine.
  • Haydren Troxal – Dealing in a schedule 1 controlled substance and possession of a schedule 1 controlled substance.
  • David Edwards – Possession of methamphetamine (warrant) and additional charges of possession of methamphetamine.
  • Dustin Bryant – Dealing in marijuana and possession of marijuana (warrant.) Not pictured.
  • Eric Bridgewater – Dealing in marijuana, possession of marijuana (warrant) and additional charges of possession of marijuana and paraphernalia.
  • Kali Phillips – Possession of Methamphetamine; Possession of Paraphernalia.
  • Matthew Newnum –Possession of methamphetamine.
  • Joseph Myers – Invasion of privacy (warrant) and criminal conversion (warrant.)
  • Terri Wallisa – Criminal trespass (warrant) and additional charges of resisting law enforcement and possession of paraphernalia.
  • Virginia Torres – Criminal conversion (warrant.)
  • Justin Roacho – Criminal conversion (warrant.)



During joint the operation, police also seized approximately 39 grams of meth, 8 grams of marijuana and one handgun. They issued eight traffic citations, as well.

By Lucy Perry  Indiana Central News A Terre Haute man was sentenced to more than 15 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and possession of a firearm in a drug trafficking case.  Matthew Beeler, 32,was sentenced for his part in the recent drug trafficking case, according to a press release Thursday from United States Department of Justice -Southern District of Indiana. He will be on probation for five years following his sentence of    183 months in prison.  In November 2020, emergency crews responded to a report of a possible heroin overdose involving several people at a Terre Haute residence. Police say man was angry with son when he fired shots at his home

By Lucy Perry Indiana Central News A Terre Haute man was taken into custody after police say he fired multiple shots into a relative's home and vehicle early Sunday morning. John Lyman Jr., 49, was booked into the Vigo County Jail a short time later. He is charged with charged with: burglary while armed with a deadly weapon; burglary of a dwelling; criminal recklessness; and intimidation using a deadly weapon. Terre Haute Police Department officers were dispatched to the residence located in the area of Blakely and Wabash Avenues on a call for shots fired, just before 6 a.m. The suspect reportedly had fled the scene prior to police arrival and was located later on. According to the report, officers allege the victim’s father had fired multiple rounds into the victim’s home. They say shots were fired through an entry door and a bedroom window of the residence. Well-being check ends deadly in Vigo County after officer fires once at resident allegedly pointing rifle

Lucy Perry photos  By Lucy Perry Indiana Central News A reportedly armed and suicidal man was killed by an officer conducting a well-being check at his southern Vigo County residence late Wednesday afternoon. James Dockery, 45, of Terre Haute, was pronounced dead at the scene. He suffered from a gunshot wound. According to Sgt. Matt Ames, of the Indiana State Police, an off-duty Vigo County Sheriff's Office deputy initially responded to the home at  7479 S. Carlisle St.  just before 5 p.m., where he  found the seemingly distressed individual. Attempts were made to communicate with Dockery at that time.  A short time later, an on-duty deputy arrived to assist at the scene and quickly observed that Dockery had guns in his possession, Ames said.
