Pedestrian struck by vehicle near downtown Terre Haute

UPDATE 7 p.m.- Police say the pedestrian died from  injuries at the scene.  The victim’s  identity is not being released at this time, pending notification of next of kin.


  The driver of the vehicle, Jordan P. Nigh, 25, Akron Ohio, was arrested for operating while intoxicated-  resulting in death. He remains held in the Vigo Co. Jail.

 A pedestrian was struck and seriously injured by a vehicle near downtown Terre Haute Wednesday afternoon.


Witnesses say they could see the man lying on the roadway and covered up for a lengthy time while the accident re-constructionists worked the scene at N. 12th Street and Wabash Avenue.


Emergency crews were dispatched to the area around 2 p.m. The Terre Haute Police Department investigation is ongoing at this time and they've only stated that the victim suffered serious bodily injury in the crash.
