Found raw meat being stored over produce and ready to eat food items in walk-in cooler. Found chicken, bean sprouts and other food items at 50F. Must be 41F or less. Accumulated debris found on can opener and knife stored between 2 prep tables. 


Cajun Cafe, 3401 S. US Hwy 41 (4 Critical, 1 Non-Critical) Observed several food items without date of consumption. Found fly strips with dead flies stored above food prep table. Found several knives hanging on knife rack with accumulated food debris. Found raw meat and eggs stored above ready to eat food in walk-in cooler.

Valley Grill, 2170 N. 3rd St. (6 Critical, 7 Non-Critical) Observed insects in dry food items and mouse droppings throughout kitchen. Found raw meat being stored above eggs and tomatoes. Observed accumulated debris on table mounted can opener and clean dishes. No sanitizer provided. Observed several food items in the walk-in and reach-in coolers with no date of consumption. Observed several food items not being held at 41F or less.


Country Mart, 4802 US Hwy 150, WTH (5 Critical, 4 Non-Critical) Observed accumulated food debris on meat slicer and black debris on soda nozzles, built up debris in cappuccino machine and on table mounted can opener. Found several packaged sandwiches, sausage gravy, brown gravy and sliced lunch meat/chubs of lunch meat not marked with date of consumption. Cooked sausage, breakfast sandwiches, sausage gravy all found at 121 – 125F. Should be at least 135F or above. No sanitizer provided. Observed several flies throughout establishment.


Lemongrass Restaurant, 3830 US Hwy 41, Ste. B (5 Critical, 4 Non-Critical) Black debris found on soda fountain nozzles. Found several employee drinks not covered on prep table. No sanitizer measured in dish washer or sanitizer buckets. Hand wash sink in dish area found dirty. Observed raw meats stored over ready to eat food in walk-in cooler. 


Taco Tequilas, 423 Wabash Ave. (5 Critical, 4 Non-Critical) Hand wash sink water turned off. Several spray bottles in kitchen not labeled with common name of chemical. Tamales, Chili rellenos, raw shrimp and shredded cheese found at 55-70F should be 41F or less. House made sauces, mayo, carne asadas not marked with date of consumption. Inside of ice machine and bar soda nozzles found with debris.


Fontanet Tavern, 11150 Gallagher Rd. (2 Critical, 0 Non-Critical) Observed accumulated debris on soda nozzle at the bar. Observed raw meat being stored above ready to eat food items.

Terre Haute man sentenced in federal drug trafficking case

By Lucy Perry  Indiana Central News A Terre Haute man was sentenced to more than 15 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and possession of a firearm in a drug trafficking case.  Matthew Beeler, 32,was sentenced for his part in the recent drug trafficking case, according to a press release Thursday from United States Department of Justice -Southern District of Indiana. He will be on probation for five years following his sentence of    183 months in prison.  In November 2020, emergency crews responded to a report of a possible heroin overdose involving several people at a Terre Haute residence. While responding, Terre Haute Police Department officers located drugs, guns and various other items associated with trafficking throughout the home.   Beeler and another individual were reportedly found unresponsive at the scene. Police say man was angry with son when he fired shots at his home

By Lucy Perry Indiana Central News A Terre Haute man was taken into custody after police say he fired multiple shots into a relative's home and vehicle early Sunday morning. John Lyman Jr., 49, was booked into the Vigo County Jail a short time later. He is charged with charged with: burglary while armed with a deadly weapon; burglary of a dwelling; criminal recklessness; and intimidation using a deadly weapon. Terre Haute Police Department officers were dispatched to the residence located in the area of Blakely and Wabash Avenues on a call for shots fired, just before 6 a.m. The suspect reportedly had fled the scene prior to police arrival and was located later on. According to the report, officers allege the victim’s father had fired multiple rounds into the victim’s home. They say shots were fired through an entry door and a bedroom window of the residence. Well-being check ends deadly in Vigo County after officer fires once at resident allegedly pointing rifle

Lucy Perry photos  By Lucy Perry Indiana Central News A reportedly armed and suicidal man was killed by an officer conducting a well-being check at his southern Vigo County residence late Wednesday afternoon. James Dockery, 45, of Terre Haute, was pronounced dead at the scene. He suffered from a gunshot wound. According to Sgt. Matt Ames, of the Indiana State Police, an off-duty Vigo County Sheriff's Office deputy initially responded to the home at  7479 S. Carlisle St.  just before 5 p.m., where he  found the seemingly distressed individual. Attempts were made to communicate with Dockery at that time.  A short time later, an on-duty deputy arrived to assist at the scene and quickly observed that Dockery had guns in his possession, Ames said. The on-duty deputy,  Sgt.
