One dead in crash with train

UPDATE 9-19-22 : The driver in Friday’s fatal train /car accident has been identified as 81 -year -old Kenneth Hauptli, of Terre Haute.   —- Sept.  17,2020 By Lucy Perry  Indiana Central News  A crash involving a train killed one person in southern Vigo County Friday evening.  The Vigo County Sheriff’s Office investigation is ongoing and the name of the victim has not been released at this time. Emergency crews responded to the scene just before 7 p.m. The train collided with the vehicle  south of Gross Road, at a railroad crossing near Doberman Street.  Sheriff John Plasse said the driver was dead at the scene.

Terre Haute man accused of raping another man

 By Lucy Perry Indiana Central News Fallon/Vigo Co. Jail A Terre Haute man was arrested on a warrant after allegedly raping a 22-year-old autistic victim over the summer. Kevin J. Fallon, 68, was booked into the Vigo County Jail Monday around 3:45 p.m.  He is charged with rape and battery. The three-month Indiana State Police investigation began after investigators   received information from a Shelburn town marshall on the allegations.  Family say the suspect lured the victim over with gifts. Sgt. Matt Ames, of the ISP, explained that the suspect had allegedly forced himself on the male victim for sexual gratification.  The alleged rape took place in Vigo County during June. Observed raw meat being stored above ready to eat food. Found raw chicken sitting out at 61 degrees Fahrenheit.   Taj-Mahal , 1349 S. 3rd St. (3 Critical, 3 Non-Critical) Observed accumulated debris on table-mounted can opener and in soda nozzles. Found food items not cooled within proper time limits. Observed several food items without date of consumption in walk-in cooler.  Uncle Jr’s Barbecue , 1429 S. 25th St. (2 Critical, 2 Non-Critical) Found several food items in reach-in cooler not dated. Vigo County Health Department  Lucy Perry photo Aug. 29 – Sept. 2 Kentucky Fried Chicken, 4400 S. US Hwy 41 (2 Critical, 5 Non-Critical) Observed spilling and adulterated food on walk-in shelves. Observed accumulated debris in soda nozzles and inside of ice machine.  Los Tres Caminos, 5147 S. US Hwy. 41 (3 Critical, 3 Non-Critical) Found refried beans at 57 degrees Fahrenheit and chicken at 50 degrees Fahrenheit in walk-in cooler. Found sanitizer in dishwasher and in 3-bay sink at bar too low. Observed accumulated debris in soda nozzle at the bar area and on clean dishes stored in buckets. Taco Luv, 1330 Wabash Ave. (3 Critical, 3 Non-Critical) Found accumulated debris on table mounted can opener. Observed several food items being held between 58 to 67 degrees Fahrenheit. Must be 41 degrees Fahrenheit or less.
