Mattern earns recognition for exceptional service as Trooper of the Year

Indiana State Police Trooper Andrew Mattern has been recognized for exceptional service locally.

Mattern, a four-year veteran,  has been named 2021 ISP Putnamville District Trooper -of- the -Year.  

 He routinely assists the Vigo County Sheriff's Office and the Terre Haute Police Department with calls of service.  He also works as  a field training officer, as well as being a firearms and URASE instructor.  

Commander Lt. David Cox announced the honor recently, noting that, last year, Mattern made nearly 30  DUI arrests and more than 250 criminal arrests, most of which were drug and/or alcohol related. Trooper Mattern also earned a Life Saving Award in 2021 and is the district’s award recipient for “District Top DUI Award''.

 Cox states in the press the press release that Mattern is an example for his colleagues, "treating people with genuine respect and concern."

Mattern resides in Vigo County with his wife Hayley.
